Centennial High School Engineering Scholars Shine

Thu, 05/11/2017 - 10:14am

On May 9, Centennial High School engineering scholars presented their work at the 2016 IRISE Symposium. Students spent the semester working with University of Illinois graduate students in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering. Each group developed a prototype they engineered over the course of a semester to improve performance for wheelchair basketball athletes. Students used material science, coding systems, 3D printer technology and physics to build these prototypes.

We’re so proud of these students for all they accomplished this semester. Stay tuned . . .the next step is to explore opportunities to patent their models and ideas.
