Mon, 01/22/2018 - 6:42pm

Congratulations to Peter Foertsch, who was named the director of Magnet Schools and will oversee the implementation and management of the $9.6 million Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) grant the district was awarded in September 2017.

While we are sad to see Mr. Foertsch leave Barkstall, we are happy to have his expertise as we implement the Magnet programs at Stratton, Garden Hills and Franklin. Mr. Foertsch will finish out the school year at Barkstall and will assist as possible with the transition of a new principal.

Mr. Foerstch began his career in education in 2004 as a fifth grade teacher at Barkstall Elementary School. He served as assistant principal of Barkstall from 2012 through 2014 and has served as principal since 2014.

In his leadership role at Barkstall, Mr. Foertsch has successfully sustained the school's mission and vision while leading staff in providing a diverse student population with a positive educational environment of growth and learning.

Mr. Foerstch holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in educational organization and leadership, both from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
