The Champaign Unit 4 Schools of Controlled Choice (SCC) plan ensures that we have diverse schools and gives parents of all students the opportunity to access any of our elementary schools, regardless of your address. The District recognizes that choosing a school is an important decision, and there are many factors to consider. Three Champaign elementary schools are magnet schools, featuring unique themes and offerings.
Booker T. Washington STEM Academy offers rigorous Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics course work. Highlights of the school include a STEM Lab and strong ties to the University of Illinois.
Stratton Leadership & MicroSociety Magnet School is a small town inside of an elementary school. Features include a student-elected city council, a functioning post-office, bank, various business ventures, along with much more. Students develop leadership skills and apply their knowledge in real-world situations.
Garden Hills Elementary – IB PYP Candidate School uses an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning. Through this, students build understanding of concepts that will guide them to see a variety of ways to solve problems and care for our ever-changing, diverse world.
