The Unit 4 Board of Education approved two administrative appointments during its February 13th meeting.
Mr. Chaim McGuire was appointed Assistant Principal at Centennial High School. Mr. McGuire began his teaching career in July 2015 as a Visual Arts Teacher with West Central CUSD 235, in Biggsville, IL. Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, he served as a Visual Arts Teacher with PORTA CUSD 202 in Petersburg, IL. After serving five years in this role, he accepted the position of Middle School Principal with New Berlin CUSD 16 in New Berlin, IL. He held that position for one year. Mr. McGuire is currently serving as a Substitute Administrator and Teacher for Lanphier High School in Springfield, IL. He will leave this position to become an Assistant Principal at Centennial High.
Mr. McGuire earned his Bachelor of Science in Art Education from Western Illinois University. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education Leadership from the University of Illinois, Springfield.
Suzanne Meislahn was selected as the Director of Special Education. Mrs. Meislahn began her career in education in 1992 as a Special Education Teacher with Macon-Piatt County Schools. After serving three years in this position, she served two years as a Special Education Teacher for Mid-State Special Education in Taylorville, Illinois. In October 1998, she was promoted to the Assistant Director of Special Education for Mid-State. In 2005, Mrs. Meislahn left Mid-State to become the Director of Special Education for Champaign Unit 4 Schools. She held this position for four years. In 2009, Mrs. Meislahn was appointed as the Director of Elementary Education and Gifted Services. She returned to the classroom in 2010 as an Itinerant Special Education Teacher Districtwide; she held this position for eight years and also served as the Supervisor and Worksite Coordinator for the Summer Youth Employment Program during summer months between 2011 through 2018. In 2018, Mrs. Meislahn returned to administration when she was appointed as the Associate Principal/Summer School Principal for Jefferson Middle School. Beginning with the 2020-2021 School Year, she accepted the position of Principal at Dr.
Howard Elementary School. She will leave this position to become Director of Special Education.
Mrs. Meislahn holds a Bachelor of Science in Education/Special Education and a Master of Science in Education/Special Education from Eastern Illinois University. She also holds a Superintendent’s Endorsement earned at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
