CU Schools Foundation Visit

September 22nd, 2023

Dear Kenwood Families,

Happy Friday and Happy Pesach to those celebrating Yom Kippur! Our district will be closed on Monday. This past week our Nature Club began under the guidance of Mr. Dreste and Mrs. Currie. The Nature Club is for our 3rd through 5th grade students with the goal of promoting a love of nature through hands-on experiences. The club plans to work in the courtyard gardens during the growing season as the weather permits. Club members will also be doing science activities in Mr. Dreste’s. We are pleased to start this new after school club and thanks to Mr. Dreste and Mrs. Currie for the sponsorship of this new club.

Panorama Survey Results

Recently our students participated in the fall administration of the Panorama Survey for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. The Panorama survey measures how students perceive their Social Emotional Skills as well as students perceptions of the school environment. Our fall survey demonstrated some strengths related to student supports and environments.

The greatest increase that we recognized on our survey was in the area of teacher and student relationships defined as the social connection between teachers and students within and beyond the classroom. We saw an 8% increase from the previous survey measuring 82% favorable responses. This compared nationally in the 80-99th percentile. We also saw a 4% increase from the previous survey measuring 70% favorable response in the area of Sense of Belonging. This is defined as how much students feel they are valued members of the school community. We continue to look at ways of supporting our students and making them feel valued members of our school.

Have a great long weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Trevor Nadrozny

Principal
