Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! I hope you were able to enjoy some time with your family during our Fall break. Thank you to all our families that were able to make it to parent teacher conferences just before the break. We were pleased to share the progress of our students through the first quarter. I wanted to acknowledge and thank our Kenwood PTA for their generosity in hosting a dinner and breakfast for our teachers during the parent teacher conference days. We also appreciate your patronage of our Scholastic Book Fair that also helped to provide books for our school library as well. We begin our second quarter on Monday and we look forward to welcoming back our students. On Tuesday, Oct. 24th we will be hosting our Kenwood Fall Festival at Hessel Park from 4:30 to 6:30pm. We hope to see you at this family event.
Superintendent’s Message
Recently, our Superintendent, Dr. Boozer shared our district’s commitment to creating a culture of belonging for all students, staff and families regardless of political, religious or cultural ideologies. Dr. Boozer was speaking out in response to the recent conflicts in Israel and Gaza Strip. As this news and the images have been difficult to process it’s likely our students have overheard or viewed these images on global and local news. Included below are some resources to help support students and families.
Talking to Kids about Gun Violence
Helping Children Cope with Frightening News
Helping Students in Troubling Times
If you believe that your children may require more support related to processing these difficult events I would encourage you to reach out to our teachers who could also put them in touch with others to support them.
Please find our district’s Annual School Report that highlights some of our district's achievements during the past year.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Trevor Nadrozny
Principal
