Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! This past week, we’ve welcomed a number of parents in for a variety of student projects including a Royal Ball in Kindergarten last Friday which highlighted the Kings and Queens unit in our CKLA reading curriculum with Kindergarten. We also welcomed parents to see student inventions in 4th grade as part of our CKLA reading unit. This past week, we welcomed parents to see student ecosystem dioramas in 5th grade as part of our Science and unit. The hard work of our students highlights our Targeted Learning Focus at Kenwood as Students, “We can show what we know!” We are excited to welcome parents for our Parent Conferences coming up next week on March 7th and 8th. We look forward to seeing you and sharing the progress of your child. Just a reminder of our Early Out dismissal on Monday at 12:50pm.
Scholastic Book Fair (March 7th & 8th)
The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to Kenwood! Our Spring fair will be held in the cafeteria during parent teacher conferences during these dates & times:
Thursday, March 7th: 2:30-7:00 pm
Friday, March 8th: 8:00-11:00 am
If you are unable to make it to the fair in person, you can shop the fair online and your purchases will benefit our school. Here is our book fair link:

Beginning January 30 until March 29th, 2024, students and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of our school. As a parent/guardian, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about Kenwood. Kindergarten and Returning Student Registration (Feb. 27th through May 30th)
Kindergarten students registration will take place at the Family and Community Engagement, 703 S. New St. Families can call 217-373-7311 to schedule an appointment.
