Cup Stacking Challenge

May 3rd, 2024

Dear Kenwood Families,

Happy Friday! This past week all of our students took the Spring administration of the MAP test. The MAP test measures both our students' growth and achievement in Reading and Math and provides teachers with useful information about our instructional focus for students.

Just a reminder that we are inviting our Kindergarten and 1st grade parents to join your child during their lunch time today.

  • 1st Grade lunch: 10:40 - 11:00am

  • Kindergarten lunch: 11:05 - 11:25am

We are inviting parents of 2nd and 3rd grade students next Friday, May 10th. Finally, we will be inviting our 4th and 5th grade parents to join their students on Friday, May 17th.

Erin’s Law Lessons

Kenwood School is coordinating services with the Rape Advocacy, Counseling and Education Services (RACES) to assist with teaching the Erin’s Law for this school year. The Erin’s Law requires schools to teach students age appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and to tell a trusted adult. These lessons will be taught over this school year. RACES’ educators will be teaching the fourth and final lesson in your child’s classroom on one day between May 7 - 9. If you have any questions or concerns about the RACES curriculum, please contact Ellen Schultz, School Social Worker at Kenwood School for more information. Contact may be made by leaving a message at (217) 351-3815 or emailing at schultel@u4sd.org

Lost and Found Items

Through the year, we have accumulated several clothing items (jackets and sweaters) that have been left on the playground during recess or in the lunchroom. We have placed these items in the hallway for students to identify, but still have a number of items. We will be donating them to our clothing closet on May 10th. If you would like to see if any of these items belong to your child please feel free to come to check out our lost and found.

Kindergarten and Returning Student Registration (Feb. 27th through May 30th)

If you have not done so please be sure to register your students for class. Kindergarten students register at the Family and Community Engagement, 703 S. New Street call 217-373-7311 to schedule an appointment.

Have a great weekend.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trevor Nadrozny
