Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! Next week we close out the 2023-24 school year and we appreciate your support this year. Earlier this week, we celebrated our students growth in MAP as we had 254 students achieve their growth goals in MAP in Reading and Math. We celebrated this achievement by duct taping their Principal and one of our aides, Mr. Darius to the wall in the gym!
This past week, I was excited to recognize and honor Mrs. Tracy Wright at the Unit 4 retirement dinner. Mrs. Wright will be finishing off 23 ½ years in education at the close of this year with 16 years at Kenwood. She has been in special education for her entire career and is one of our Cross Categorical teachers! She has helped many students through her years at Kenwood and leaves some big shoes to fill. Thank you Mrs. Wright!
This week, we also saw the passing of the torch ( walkie) as we said goodbye to Mrs. Stephanie Eckels. Mrs. Eckels has been our Assistant Principal since December and helped support our students and staff this year. We welcomed to Ms. Megginson who helps us close out the school year and begins the year with us next year! We are excited to have her join us!
Next week, we look to close out the week with our students. We have our Carnival day scheduled for Wednesday, May 30th.
Student Chromebook Collection - Tuesday, May 29th
Our district IT department will be collecting students’ Chromebooks at school to help update, repair and refurbish chromebooks for next year. Please remember to send any school charging cords and student Chromebooks to school by May 29th.
5th Grade Promotion, May 29th @ 12:00pm
On May 29th, we will be recognizing our 5th grade students for their promotion to middle school. We will have our ceremony at 12:00pm at Kenwood.
Returning Student Registration (Deadline May 31st)
If you have not done so please be sure to register your students for class. Kindergarten students register at the Family and Community Engagement, 703 S. New Street call 217-373-7311 to schedule an appointment.
