Back to School

August 16th, 2024

Dear Kenwood Families,

Happy Friday! Welcome back and thank you for a great first week at Kenwood. It has been wonderful to meet all our new families and welcome back our returning families to Kenwood. You help to make Kenwood great! We’ve been busy this week getting to know students and reviewing routines. I wanted to make you aware of our new district cell phone policy to maximize student learning.

District Cell Phone Policy

This year, all cell phones should be kept in book bags or at home. All phones should be:

  • Off

  • Out of sight while in the school building (arrival-dismissal)

  • If you need to contact your student, please call the office

If a student is found using their cell phone during school hours, it will be confiscated and kept in a locked box in the office until you (the guardian) can retrieve it.

Parent Drop Off at School

As we begin our 2nd week of school, parents will be asked to let students enter the building independently on their own as they know the locations of their classroom and the breakfast room. As teachers are settling into teaching their lessons every minute counts. It can be difficult for teachers to begin lessons while answering questions or checking in with parents that could be answered through a preferred method of communication with your child’s teacher. If a conference is desired then a scheduled conference can also be arranged. If you are interested in volunteering at Kenwood, we certainly welcome this and would encourage you to reach out to our volunteer coordinator, Kristen Morris at morriske@u4sd.org. We also want to ensure the safety and security of our building. Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you, and here’s to a great year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Nadrozny

Principal
