Sept 13th, 2024
Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! We are excited to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15th through Oct. 15th). Next Friday, we look forward to a presentation by Maria Godoy Saab and Elis Artz from the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies at the University of Illinois. Students will learn the song "Caranguejo não é peixe", followed by more songs from the Brazilian children's songbook to help celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. Mrs. Markus, Kenwood MLL teacher was instrumental in helping arrange this presentation to our students and staff.
Nature Club
Our Nature Club has been continuing to help harvest all of the fruits and vegetables growing in our courtyards including grapes, squash and cucumbers to name just a few of the crops growing. Mr. Dreste, Mrs. Currie and Mr. Schiro have been leading our Nature Club as they help to cultivate our Courtyard Gardens while learning about nature.
Kenwood Star Student
Beginning in October, teachers will nominate a student from their class to be the STAR student each month. Students can be nominated for:
Improving academics or behavior
Persevering over obstacles
Consistency in academics and behaviors
Being a kind student and friend
These students will be recognized and earn a certificate and special privileges! We look forward to recognizing our many Star students.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Nadrozny
Principal
